Interview with Michael "Six" Muldoon on June 4th, 2007...
David: What drew you to magic?
Well some guy I met today said because Im a scorpio that im naturally drawn to secrets.. He didn't know I was a magician at the time so I found it quite funny. Then I told him, and he cracked up. Nothing in specific drew me to magic, I guess it was just meant to be..
David: What do you enjoy most about performing?
Well there is a lot.... I love just interacting with people and cracking jokes here and there... I love to make people laugh and I know I did my job when someone is amazed and entertained. I like the challenge of performing, Its much deeper then most magicians think. A lot of what I do is taking risks because that's just fun..Stuff like loading under watches and coin on shoulder routines.
David: Do you have a favorite story of a performance? A time when you blew somebodies mind completely?
Well I have quite a few..One was early in my magic career when I did my finger trick to David Blaine..He flipped and had the cameras come over to record it, I was young and felt like a superstar. Another would be when I performed for Paul Harris the effect of mine that's going into Magic magazine, he loved it and didn't see the ending coming.
David: Tell me about the effect for Magic Magizine...
Well its and idea I got from reading the book "The Paper Engine" by Aaron Fisher. At the time I was playing with some routines, combined them, and came up with a killer finish, in which the entire deck chages into the spectators selected card visibly.
David: You're talking about 'Shocked'...
But of course, I'm quite proud of the effect. It was my first creation.
David: Do you often create effects, or are you more focused on performance?
I'm in between, recently I have come up with some great effects which I will most likely market one day. They're strong and full of entertainment, so I'm sure they will do great. Yet, most of my shows rely on my comedic and entertainment side. So I do both, create effects and try to find great ways to present them.
David: Where do you perform currently?
As of now, usually at TGI Fridays and you can catch me on stage Aug. 11 at Rogue Productions Magic and Funshop.
David: Do you provide your art for other events?
Yeah, I do kidshows but actually stopped because I am doing more corporate events, but then again, I'm more then willing to do a kidshow, I'm all about giving kids the greatest show in the world, I might be the first magician they ever see and that's a big role.
David: What are your plans for the future?
I would like to have my own show in the city, I'm really busy with school and work so I don't have time to focus on it. I'm very picky about putting this show together and it will take some time to complete. I'm also in the works of releasing some products and putting my full press packet together.
David: That sounds great! Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about?
Well, I'm working on a competition act, so look at www.newmagicsource.com and youtube.com for new videos coming soon. I am working on a lot of videos so people can see me in action and enjoy my magic even though there across the world.
