Your FREE Trick!

Here we go, a new trick, finally! This one is great for hanging out with your friends. This can be very strong magic, when you do it right! You have to get a friend in on the trick. Your friend is your assistant, your secret helper.

THE EFFECT: Place a coin on your palm and cover it with a napkin. Have three or four spectators reach under the napkin to make sure the coin is really there. You should definitely do this with no sleeves, or sleeves rolled up; it makes the effect all the more amazing! The coin vanishes without your having to do anything!! Show the coin to be gone and then place the napkin back over your palm. Your spectators then feel that the coin returned!!

THE METHOD: One of your friends is in on the effect! Your friend acts as a secret assistant. He/she is the last person to feel the coin under the napkin before it vanishes. What really happens: Your friend takes the coin as he/she pretends to feel it. Make sure your friend conceals the coin in his hand so the other spectators don't see it leave your hand. You show that the coin is gone. Place the napkin back onto your palm. Your friend, the assistant, is the first to feel that the coin has returned; placing the coin back into your hand.

Tricks with cards form one branch of magic entirely on their own. In fact, there are some magicians who specialize in card tricks and nothing else, due to the wide range of opportunities offered by that field. This applies to everyone to some degree, because from the moment you start doing card tricks; you naturally acquire a manipulative ability. The act of cutting and shuffling a pack of cards demands some skill. When you spread the pack, inviting someone to "take a card," or run rapidly through the face-up pack while looking for cards needed for some special trick, you acquire further facility. Next you may find fancy cuts and flourishes to your liking; and if you do, you will be on the road to becoming a card expert almost before you realize it!

-Mark Wilson, Complete Course in Magic

I recommend Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic as a great way to learn tricks with cards, coins, props, and some illusions. It was the first book I ever owned
and I learned a lot from it! You can find this book at Borders or even on Amazon.com!
