The Effect:
This instructional video teaches you how to visually push a real coin through the bottom of a real glass bottle, leaving it inside. They watch it melt through the bottle's bottom, leaving your hand and falling into the bottle. They don't see it just 'appear' in the bottle, they watch it melt through. The bottle is then handed to spectator for inspection and to keep.
They won't find any holes or gimmicks anywhere on the bottle. This instructional video, taught by the creator himself, will teach you everything you need to know to perform this illusion. Upon learning the secret, you will immediately want to rush out and perform it.
I'm not a magician, can I do it?
YES. This is one of those effects that anyone who wants to do it, can do it. This may even be your introduction to magic. It's simple, it can be presented as impromtu. There is little sleight-of-hand. Nothing you couldn't do if you practiced it a few times with a trusted friend. If you want to do it, you'll do it.
Will I use it?
YES. This method of coin through bottle is very clever. It's easy to perform. You don't have to carry around any bulky gimmicks. You don't need to have a folding half; or any other magic apparatus. The effect can be performed with a borrowed bottle and a borrowed quarter. It plays big and can be given away for inspection, or as a souvenir.
The instructional download or DVD is passable. You don't watch an instructional DVD for production quality. You watch it for the method and notes from the creator of the effect. Kevin shows you the promo clip of the trick in action. The clip shows you the impact the effect has on spectators. He then teaches you how to make the gimmick needed for the effect. You then learn the performance of the trick step by step. Kevin covers the performance of the effect with your own bottle and quarter, as well as with a borrowed bottle and quarter.
Is it better than other coin in bottle effects?
YES. The typical coin in bottle routine involves a folding half and the coin is thrust into the mouth of the bottle very quickly. It can be a trick getting the darn thing out smoothly during performance. This method is not bad, it serves many magicians well, it's just not as good as Passing Thru.
Is it repeatable?
There's a saying,"Once is entertainment, twice is education." Of course you can repeat it. Repeating the effect for the same audience right after you perform it: not suggested (though you could probably get away with it). That goes for any trick, the audience knows what to expect, so their looking for the solution the second time through. You can use Passing Thru as many time as you like. The gimmick packs small, and is reusable.
Is it worth the price?
YES. The download and DVD are both worth the price, especially when you think about the reactions you will get from your spectators! You'll get a lot of mileage out of this effect. One time $17 (download), or $24.95 (DVD), and you've got this effect forever.
