Interview with Paul Carpenter on March 21, 2008...
David: How did you discover your passion for mentalism?
I got to see Banachek perform at my high school in 1994!
David: Who were your major influences?
Banachek, Max Maven, Corrinda
David: How have you benefited from perfecting this art?
Well, I have been featured in Ripley's Believe It Or Not and I have also recently made the Mentally Hyp (nosis) dvd with magic makers.
David: What was the most fulfilling moment that this skill brought you?
I would say getting to hang out with Harry Anderson who is an amazing technician of the art of stage craft and slieght of mouth.
David: What is this new DVD all about?
Mentally Hyp (nosis) is a beginners grab bag of mentalism and hypnosis effects. In the Mentalism section you learn anything from forces, center tear and even the magic square. The Hypnosis section includes suggestible induction effects which is the basis of both art forms.
David: What can we expect to take away from it?
I expect anyone who walks away with the dvds to learn some outstanding routines and be able to perfrom any of these effects virtually anywhere.
David: What is in the future for you?
Well, I am looking to perform my one man show "THE Psychic?" I have been talking with some people and I may take the show to either Australia, or Branson, Missouri. Talk about two completely different places..... Other than That I am in talks with Magic Makers to come out with 4 more dvds to complete this series, We want to come out with a book that compliments this first series as well as two more dvds which are a prompter dvd and also a mentalism dvd with props.
